Healing Liberty
Introducing a new non-profit organization to promote and secure America’s commitment to restore and renew the rights
and liberties established by the founding documents of the United States and their sources.
About Us.
It may not seem like it, but we have been here before. The foundations of the United States republic were forged in a time when many Americans betrayed their neighbors, family, and friends. In the revolutionary era, several Americans were corrupted by greed, fatalism, and cowardice. Some prostrated themselves before a cruel monarch who would later become known as "mad" King George III. Family members turned on family members, husbands against wives, fathers against sons, and alliances that were previously unthinkable were formed. The prospect of a new order of things was probably best symbolized by the meeting between the globally famous Black Poetess of the American Revolution Phillis Wheatley and her avid admirer, then "Generalissimo of the armies of North America," George Washington at his headquarters in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

This prospect of Black and white, man and woman, Jew and gentile joining together to secure their common interests in a new nation did not come easy and sometimes we lose our way. In the years leading up to the American Revolution this new prospect of equal liberty became symbolized a century old American Elm Tree sat near Boston Common in Massachusetts that became known as Liberty Tree. The revolutionaries used the old tree as a meeting place for speeches, protests, and celebrations. They decorated its branches with streamers, flags, and lanterns. The grounds around the tree, though outdoors, became known to the Americans as Liberty Hall. But, in August of 1775, American loyalists felled the ancient tree in an apparent attempt to cause the revolutionary movement to despair and falter in a critical moment.

Present circumstances may not be exactly what they were when American loyalists chopped down Liberty Tree in an attempt to demoralize America, but one can certainly relate to how the revolutionaries must have felt. Over the last several years in the United States, demagogues have boldly vied for the people's support, apparently hoping to crown themselves de facto kings, queens, or oligarchs. We have witnessed them misuse every branch of government in their attempts to lay hold of more and more power to support their lavish lifestyles. America may be as demoralized today as it ever was during the years leading up to the revolution and the Civil War.

The mission of Healing Liberty is to follow the example of the American Revolutionaries by leading a dynamic response to the present epoch filled with internal crises caused by widening public support for American demagogues and would-be tyrants. Our response will be asserted through education, research, litigation, policy advocacy, and public discourse. Through these avenues, we will promote and secure America's commitment to restore and renew the rights and liberties established by the founding documents of the United States and their sources. To that end, our hope is to heal liberty in America especially when it seems to be dead or lost forever.
Current Projects and Areas of Focus
2024 to Present
Immigrant Habeas Corpus
We are organizing a litigation and support team to file writs of habeas corpus for immigrants unjustly held in detention facilities. We plan to assert or facilitate the assertion of separation of powers violations, other constitutional violations, and human rights violations in federal court.
2024 to Present
Right and Privilege to Travel
We are currently seeking ways to litigate or create policy for those seeking to cross state lines to seek healthcare, and during society-wide health crises like the COVID pandemic. We are also seeking ways to extend this privilege and right to foreign citizen aliens under Saenz v. Roe and its progeny.
2024 to Present
Unforeseen Constitutional Crises and Events
We are building out readiness for several other prospective constitutional crises that may unfold in future mass health or disaster related events in America. This list of areas of focus will be updated as we address future unforeseen events and crises as they unfold.
